animals in pastels

I am Brenda Lee, and a childhood love of animals, especially horses, has led me to want to portray them.

I aim to capture the inherent spirit and authentic individuality of each animal, and how they interact with each other. Above all, though, I am interested in both ordinary and working animals relationships to us.

I feel it is a great privilege whenever I ride or spend time with horses, that they allow me to share their space both mentally and physically. I am fascinated in the way animals communicate and that they seek out human company.

Through contact with animals we learn about ourselves and my paintings endeavour to portray that special relationship in candid portraits of animals just being animals.
